Glossary

A Guardian Ad Litem, often referred to as GAL, is a person appointed by the Court to represent the interests of a minor child or a person who is unable to represent themselves by virtue of age or incompetence. Conservatorship and Guardianship cases as well as family court and children's court are all common places for GAL's.
